The long term association of the famous brands of Alfa Romeo and Carrozzeria Touring resulted at the end of the fifties in an increase in volume with the production of the Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider which was launched at the Torino Motor Show of 1958. The elegant convertible was a success, because 3.443 examples of the 2000 Spider were produced between 1958 and 1961 thanks to a clever combination of modern Alfa Romeo technology and state of the art coachbuilding by Touring.
Powered by a for the time modernist twin-cam 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine fed by twin carburettors developing a healthy 115 HP and coupled to a 5-speed gearbox this roomy Alfa Romeo convertible was ideal as a long distance tourer capable of a top speed of 165 Km/h.
This stylish, pale yellow 1962 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider resided for many years in the hands of a family in Rhode Island also involved in the yachting activities of the local Watch Hill Yacht Club.
In 1999 this Alfa Romeo came back to Europe upon which we sold this elegant convertible to a Belgian classic car enthusiast who got the 2000 Spider as a birthday present from his wife (wasn’t that a nice gesture…!).
Logic that the new owner took very well care of his Alfa Romeo using, although registered as a normal car, the 2000 Spider mainly in summer and having the car regularly and properly serviced by classic car specialists (Marreyt Classics was one of them) of the Brussels area.
The fact that this 1962 Alfa Romeo was registered as a normal car and thus having to comply with the rather severe quality checks of the annual Technical Control gives a prospective new owner the guarantee that this 2000 Spider is in excellent structural and roadworthy condition.
We are very happy that after another 20 years of passionate ownership our customer asks us to find the next owner for his beloved Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider. You?
