What an absolute pleasure to drive this powerful roadster on a sunny autumn day! These photo's were taken on a sunny Friday in October, during a very pleasant drive in the Flemish countryside. The sunshine and the soft breeze are always a nice extra, but it was mainly this perfectly restored Series 3 E-Type that made the afternoon so pleasant. It starts "au quart de tour", as the French say. The powerful 5.3 litre V12 just needs a little choke in the beginning (sunny doesn't always mean warm!), and afterwards it roars very eagerly. On small country roads, you shouldn't try to get all 264 horses out of the engine, but you feel the latent power! The automatic gearbox shifts very smoothly, and the kickdown responds very well. The road handling is excellent, the power steering guides you effortlessly through narrow turns, and the car stops as well as it goes €œ quite important with a 217 km/h top speed! The car has undergone a high quality restoration in Germany, truly a full nut and bolt, body off, down to the bare chassis restoration. This is proven by a huge file containing tons of photo's, invoices and a detailed report by TV Rheinland. The car's very elegant and discreet Gunmetal Grey body looks as good as new. If you're looking for a Series 3 E-Type in excellent shape, this is the one! With prices of Series 1 and 2 climbing ever higher, this fully restored and very well documented Series 3 represents excellent value for money.
