The Mercedes-Benz 300 Adenauer is one of those post-war cars where engineering and presence come together in a very natural way. Its nickname comes from Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of West Germany, who used this model as his official car for many years. It gives a clear idea of what this car stands for: dignity, comfort and quiet confidence. After World War II, Adenauer deliberately chose the Mercedes 300 as a symbol of the reconstruction and economic strength of the new Federal Republic.

This example was originally delivered in Belgium and first owned by a trader from Ghent. In 2002, it underwent a full restoration in Belgium, carried out by experienced craftsmen. The bodywork was done by Carrosserie Center in Hofstade, the engine rebuilt by Stichelmeyer BV in Meerbeke and the interior retrimmed by Michel Wyns Autobekleding in Putte. The car still presents itself today in a very honest and well-kept condition.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft, producing around 115 horsepower. Paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, it delivers a smooth and quiet driving experience, exactly what you would expect from a flagship model of the early fifties. The independent suspension also adds to the comfort, even by today’s standards.

This particular 300 still comes with its original, completed Mercedes-Benz service booklet, something rarely seen. It was recently displayed at the Mercedes Expo at Autoworld in Brussels. The original Becker “Nurburg” radio with its documentation is still in place, adding to the authenticity.

Now offered by its second owner, this is a genuine and appealing example for someone looking for a classic Mercedes with real history.
