Years ahead in engineering, miles ahead on the road’ was the slogan used by US Porsche distributor, Hoffman in his advertising campaign for Road & Track magazine (1955) and this captures the essence of the Porsche 356.

First produced in Austria from 1948-49 and then in Germany from 1950-55, the 356 was Porsche’s first production car. In an era when many other automotive manufacturers were employing larger engines to gain performance, Porsche concentrated on aerodynamics, balance and lightness to achieve the same goals.

In late 1955 the 356A was introduced, distinguishable with its curved windscreen.

According to the Porsche Kardex production info our Cabriolet is an early T1 1600 model produced end of 1956, delivered on the 7-th of January 1957 and ready to ship through importer Max Hoffman to the USA.

Still being matching numbers for chassis and engine this rare, very early 356 A features all the typical early production elements such as the round tail lights and the chrome rear numberplate light mounted above the numberplate.

This 356 A T1 Cabriolet benefitted from a complete restoration respecting the original colour combination of Sahara Beige with red leather upholstery.

Our classic car garage inspected and tested this attractive Porsche 356 A Cabriolet paying great attention to detail and was very pleased with the end result: properly executed restoration, very nice presentation, excellent road behaviour.

Summer isn’t over yet! Why wouldn’t you enjoy it at the steering wheel of this stylish Porsche 356 A Cabriolet?
