1958 Mercedes Benz 190SL Roadster
In 1955 the new Mercedes 190SL was presented as an attractive and affordable alternative for the legendary Mercedes 300SL. It is often portrayed as "the little brother" of the 300 SL, but in our opinion it is an underrated car that presents several advantages compared to its "big brother".
While many 300 SL lovers regret that the Roadster doesn't feature the small round headlights of the Gullwing, the 190 SL combines open-top motoring with the classic, original SL look.
Almost impossible not falling in love with this beautiful design.
Super-Leicht or Sport-Leicht
When Mercedes introduced the ‘SL’, it was not clear where this abbreviation came from. Both ‘Sport Leicht’ and ‘Super Leicht’ were mentioned but as far as we are concerned there is no need to make any choice. The ‘SL’ is easy to drive and the performance is worthy of the car as well. Why choose if both apply?
Caractéristiques techniques
We are pleased to offer you this 1958 Mercedes 190SL Roadster. Like many of its kind, the car was produced for the American market, where the SL was very popular.
10 years ago the car came over to Belgium. A a full restoration was started between 2016-2020. It was finished in stylish “Graphite Grey” combined with a red leather interior. A red mohair convertible roof complete its timeless elegance. However this combination is not the original one for this car, we couldn't imagine a better match.
During the restoration the original Solex carburetors where replaced by more sporty Weber ones.
Since then, this car has covered just 1200 km.
This is a very sporty 190 SL with excellent road handling that really shows what the little brother is capable of. Very pleasing lines, good comfort, perfect weather protection, sufficient power in all circumstances and excellent reliability. Isn’t it summer 2025 yet?
