Land Rover Series IIA 88 inch 1966 LHD
Are you or did you ever dream of being a gentleman farmer?
In that case we have the perfect vehicle for you!
I love the plan developed by Maurice Wilks, who immediately after WW II was Rover’s chief designer, to produce a light agricultural and utility vehicle, of a similar concept to the Willys Jeep used in the war, but with an emphasis on agricultural use.
The Land Rover was an immediate success becoming the first mass-produced relatively “comfortable” civilian four-wheel drive car with doors. It became an own brand that remains very successful today.
The 1966 model we have on offer here is known as the Basic 88 inch Series IIA, a model which still refers to the early beginnings but also offers extra road and less agricultural comfort.
A thorough inspection in our classic car garage, which usually tackles much more glamorous classic vehicles, revealed a perfectly restored Land Rover, respecting the factory originality (comes with Heritage Certificate), charming all of our mechanics.
Great “safari style” presentation in nicely finished, original colour “Sand” with khaki canvas soft top.
In typical early Land Rover style nicely detailed with freshly galvanised body elements, period heather, spare wheel on bonnet, three seats in a row on front bench + 4 passengers on the rear opposite benches, this Series IIA, powered by its 4 cylinder 2.2 petrol engine through the 4-speed (long & short) gears + locked differential option, is very responsive and provides great off-road fun.
