Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale

As soon as I saw this beautifully by Bertone designed Sprint Speciale lurking at me in the semi-dark garage of an Italian sportscar collector in the south of Belgium, I knew there was no other option than that I was going to manoeuvre in such a way that this beauty would end up in my own classic car garage. Only 1.350 were constructed and their typical 'disco volante' shape reflects the wild lines of the excentric Alfa Romeo BAT cars designed by Bertone just a couple of years previously. Built in steel and aluminium on the same shortened chassis as the full aluminium SZ (Sprint Zagato), of which only 215 were produced, also this ultra-rare Bertone designed version was meant to be used in sporty events. This particular Sprint Speciale has a French origine and was apparently well preserved over the years because the body is extremely sound. All panels show clearly that they never needed any repair. Also the panel gaps of doors, bootlid and bonnet are nice and correct. The interior has been retrimmed in grey vinyl piped with dark blue and has a very nice presentation. The mechanical lay-out of this SS is evenso futuristic for the time, these sportscars were built. Consisting of a full aluminium, beautifully engineered, twin overhead cam, high compression 4 cylinder 1300 cc which is fed by 2 Weber carbs and produces a healthy 97 BHP. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox this guarantees lots of typical Italian sportscar fun on the road. The overall presentation in gleaming dark blue and the general mechanical condition are excellent.
