This exclusive Park Ward version of the Bentley SI Continental series is rarely available on the classic car market. Indeed, only 431 SI Continentals were ever produced of which 185 coachbuilt by Park Ward in DHC and FHC alternatives. These SI Continental chassis were designed for gentlemen drivers in need of a comfortable Bentley for long distance touring. The Continental's 4.9 L, 6 cylinder engine had slightly more power (178 HP) than the standard steel saloons and drove through a 4 speed automatic gearbox a longer ratio rear axle. Chassis number BC39AF is in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition. She resided for many years in the Bentley collection of a fastidious German enthusiast. The completely aluminium panelled body is very straight and sound. The two-tone combination of metalic blue and grey underlines the elegant design of this coachbuilt Bentley. The somptuous black leather interior in slightly patinated condition looks, smells and feels as if you were in a cosy English club. The wooden dashboard and door cappings are finished in nicey detailed wood veneer. The underbonnet area is very clean and illlustrates convincingly the very well looked after status of this Bentley.
