This type 57 with chassis nr 57605 left the Molsheim factory on the 16th of December 1937 in rolling chassis form to be fitted by the London coachbuilder, Corsica, with a unique DHC body. What exactly happened to this exclusive motorcar, we did not find out yet, but a few years ago the Bugatti was discovered in the USA and subsequently brought back to Europe. In our workshop, we could examine this fantastic motorcar in detail. The engine needed just a little bit of professional attention and runs wonderfully now. The power is very impressive, thanks to the correct compressor fitted a posteriori, turning, this initially unknown T57, into an even rarer T57C by this addition. The aluminium body is sound and strong , certainly being period, offering excellent comfort for 4. The easily folding down hood mechanism transforms a stylish Coupé into a very enjoyable cabriolet. In my opinion, the colours are a little bit too much "American" inspired and would look much more attractive in its original finish of dark green metallic. On the road this 57C is a very potent grand tourer with excellent road behaviour. The car needs in first instance some refurbishement work on body and trim, but could also still be enjoyed as it is now. Cheap, very exclusive touring in this rare coachbuilt T57C at only 175000 euro.
