Fiat 750 Giannini barchetta Ogna ex-Mille Miglia 1948 LHD Last Italian registration: 50981 VI Chassis N°: 035785 The diversity and ingenuity of the post war Etceterinis is a fascinating subject. Mostly based on affordable Fiat technology, dozens of sports cars were constructed by Italians with a passion for motorsport. This barchetta, constructed and raced by Domenico Ogna, is a perfect example of such an Etceterini. The basis is a Fiat Topolino A chassis of which the engine was prepared by Giannini to compete in the 750 class. The streamlined aluminium siluro body is supported by a tubular subframe. Initially fitted with cycle wings and later on in the early fifties, replaced by fixed wings attached to the body. Finally in 1954 a complete new barchetta style body was constructed. Domenico Ogna raced his sports-competition car in several Mille Miglias. The cars' ex-MM history is as follows: 1948: #1038 1950: #325 1952: #2345 1954: #2345 (same starting number as in 1952). 3 Years ago my Italian classic car friends could locate this Fiat 750 Giannini Ogna barchetta in a derelict but still original condition. The last owner had initiated a restoration which stranded when dismantled. Only the Giannini prepared Fiat 750 engine was completely overhauled. At this stage the originality of this artisan developed Fiat 750 Giannini barchetta is very interesting to examine. For my specialist classic car workshop or for a skilled classic car enthusiast a very attractive project which will allow its owner to be, with 100% certitude, selected for a future historic Mille Miglia.
