Lancia Appia Sport Zagato "Competizione" 1963 LHD   In my wildest dreams I am the proud owner of a Ferrari 250 SWB or an Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato... In real life however the stratospheric actual values of these cars put me quickly with both feet back on the ground. But hey, here is this very cute, totally similar, little sister of my dream cars: the SWB Lancia Appia  Sport Zagato of which only 200 examples were fabricated. The typical Zagato styling fits perfectly to the SWB-size of this Lancia Appia "Passo Corto".   The Appia Sport Zagato was a potent and sought after little racing machine in the 60-ies. The standard Appia Sport 1090 cc engine did dispose of 60 HP, but this particular 3-rd series Appia Sport was upgraded in the 80-ies to full "Competizione" specifications with an Almo Bosato tuned engine developping 86 HP at 7.000 revs!   This well reputed tuning wizard from Torino took also care of all other typical "Competizione" elements of this Sport Zagato such as carburettor (Weber 40 DCOE2), suspension, gearbox, rear axle, 15 inch wheels (fitted with Dunlop Racing tyres) instead of the standard 14 inch wheels, rev-counter calibrated to 8.000 giri and speedo until 220 Km/h, adapted electrics, plexi side windows, racing bucket seats, omitting front and rear bumpers, etc...   The power diagrams obtained by Almo Bosato and more detailed specific preparation, are all available in the period file of this Appia Sports Competizione Berlinetta, which, as numerous stickers on 3/4 rear window testimony, was intensively campaigned in the 80-ies in all sorts of racing events. Even better, I could also secure the period fully tuned spare engine, which is very nicely presented on a display-standard which we fabricated.   4 years ago, I placed this little bomb into the hands of one of my long term classic car friends who performed very well and, moreover, had loads of fun with her at some sporty regularity events here in Belgium. This Appia Sport berlinetta not only looks good, but is absolutely ready for many more years of historic competition fun! In your hands?
