Jaguar E-type S1 3.8 Coupé 1963 LHD

This is truly an icon of a sportscar!

For us this 1963 Jaguar E-type S1 3.8 Coupé is a rolling sculpture.

As with many British sportscars from that period also this S1 Jaguar E-type Coupé started life in sunny California – USA.

When inspecting this very original and sound S1 Coupé at the workshop of our talented Italian classic car colleague in Padova, we initially thought this Jaguar was the perfect candidate to execute a conservative restoration on the car.

The more we looked into this preservation project, the more we realised that this E-type was just beyond the point of preservation and that the best option to guarantee the car and the owner lots of classic car pleasures in the future, consisted in a straightforward restoration.

Once this decission is made, one can not hope for a better starting point as this sound, undamaged, unmolested, matching numbers and ultra complete Jaguar E-type.

We nevertheless made sure that serveral elements were preserved which still refer to this excellent original condition. The green tinted glass, quite a lot of chrome elements and the rare crossed pattern aluminium decorative panels on dashboard and gearbox tunnel are still original.

Respecting the original colour combination of black paint with red leather interior was a logic decission.

The only deviation of the original specification was by fitting slightly wider 6 inch inner laced chrome wire wheels, on which we think this E-type S1 “sits” better.

We are very satisfied with the result but we would like you to be the judge…

We personally think, and hope that, after having had a closer look at this Jaguar E-type S1 Coupé, also you will confirm we took the right decision.
