Lancia Lambda Weymann Saloon 1928 RHD When I saw this Lancia Lambda swaft into my classic car workshop I once agin thought: "What a lucky bastard I am!" Have a look at this charming Lambda and admit; isn't she a beauty? The Lambda is one of the great masterpieces developped by Lancia. It was the first car to feature a monocoque type body and it also pioneered the use of full independant suspension. This advanced thechnology allowed Lancia to produce a light car (approx. 1.000 Kg). Combined with the in this VII-th series Lambda innovative V4 2,4 liter engine, with overhead camshaft producing 59 HP, coupled to a 4-speed gearbox resulted in a roadcar demonstrating sporty road manners for its time. This VII-th series Lambda was the first one which could accept a coachbuilt body. The Weymann body fitted to this Lambda was again demonstrating innovative developpements in coachbuilding. A combination of a light wooden frame covered with easy to maintain fabric reduced the usual squeaks and rattles of traditionally coachbuilt cars and improved performance because of the body's light weight. Sold new in Portugal in 1928, this Lambda Weymann saloon had until 2005 only 2 owners from new! It is clear to me that somewhere in her life the Weymann body has been restored (very properly done), the interior however is still the original one and has an tremendously charming patina. Mechanically she is in perfect running order with a very healthy general condition.
