I have felt it when confronted with many classic cars, but here looking at this Bertone designed Sprint Speciale, there is no doubt: this sportscar is art ! The spirit of the famous BAT (Berlinetta Aerodynamica Technica) Alfa Romeo's is obvious on this shortened Sprint chassis. A touch more realistic than on the wild BAT-cars but nevertheless very efficient with a CX (air penetration coefficient) of only 0,27. For 1957, when this Sprint Speciale was designed, a real accomplishment for a production car. Meant for racing, only 1.350 Giulietta's Sprint Speciale were produced. Her beauty and her rareness make her now a sought after collectors' item. This Giulietta SS is in absolutely super condition being restored years ago for his own collection by my classic car friend Nino, who ran a big Fiat-Alfa Romeo-Lancia agency in the south part of Belgium. In all points of view, in immaculate condition, this 1300cc Giulietta is a real pleasure to drive. Good power (100 HP) from the beautifully designed TOHC four cylinder engine (a joy to rev!) coupled to the delicious 5-speed gearbox. Very precise steering, efficient braking power from discs at front and finned alu brake drums at rear. All together a beautifully balanced berlinetta. All these positive elements made it for me very difficult to resist this typical Alfa red Sprint Speciale. I am curious to see what the effect will be on you...
