Alvis Speed 20 SB Tourer by Vanden Plas

One of my favourite Alvises is back in my stable ! Friends and customers of me will know that I am a fanatic Alvis enthusiast. I have been frequently asked which car I would select if I only could have but one . My answer has allways been : an Alvis Speed 20 SB with Vanden Plas tourer body. This model is not only extremely elegant, but also technically very advanced for its period. Independant front suspension makes the steering so light and the famous all synchromen gearbox is a joy to use. The power (90HP) from the 2,5 L six in line, fed by 3 SU carburettors is quite sufficient to drive this Speed 20 with panache. It is the 3rd time, in approx. 8 years, that this Alvis is in my stock again. I know her history quite well. Properly restored in the 90-ies by a specialist in England, she was well looked after since, most of the time in my classic car workshop "Twin Cam". As you can see from the photographs, she is a stunning car from appearance, the black body in nice contrast with the superb red leather interior. Of course a full weather equipment in black double duck will protect you and your passengers when the weather is preventing to drive her "wind in your hair".
