Jaguar E-type S1 4.2 Tourer 1967 LHD

For me the Jaguar E-type “ticks all the boxes”:

- Nostalgy: It is the sportscar of my youth. I was only 6 when the Jaguar E-type was launched 60 years ago. The whole automobile world was stunned when William Lyons presented both Jaguar E-types, a Coupé and a Tourer, at the Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva to the Automobile press on the 15-th of March 1961. You can immagine the effect on a 6 years old boy… - Design: a chef d’oeuvre by Jaguar’s talented automotive aerodynamist Malcolm Sayer!- Mechanical concept: State of the art combination of a monocoque construction for the body tub combined with space-frame concept for the front suspension & engine bay. The fabulous twin overhead cam 6-cilinder XK engine developping 265 BHP. Independent front & rear suspension. The latter intelligently mounted in a rigid subframe providing the necessary stability.

I am sure many “boys” of my generation are, just as I am, overwhelmed by the assets of the Jaguar E-type.

This late Series 1 Convertible is probably offering the best mix in esthetics and usability.

The purity of design typical for the Series 1 is uncompromised while the driver enjoys better seating comfort, better brakes, more torque from the engine and the combined pleasures of open top motoring, when using the convertible top, and coupé facility when the stylish factory hard-top is fitted.

The fact that this Jaguar E-type spent her early life in California-USA was certainly a bonus for the car’s structural soundness. Which allowed for a straightforward restoration on the return of this matching numbers Jaguar E-type back to the old continent.

Our very skilled Italian classic car colleague respected the Jaguar’s authenticity till into the last details. The result is this sparkling beauty of which we proudly show you some photos.

Just have a look at this late series 1 4.2 Convertible in the original colour combination of Opalescent Silver Blue with blue interior & dark blue soft top (hard-top is in black) and try not to fall in love…

We succombed…
