1958 Porsche 356A (T2) 1600 Super - Sunroof Coupe

The Porsche 356 is an iconic vehicle that could lay the foundation for the strong brand that Porsche is today. With its distinctive rounded shapes and fantastic handling, this A-Series 356 represents the early stages of Porsche legend.

What makes this particular car even more special is the rare "Golde" sunroof. This allows you to enjoy the comfort of a coupe model while still having a sense of openness added to the refined interior.

This car reflects the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the 1950s, with simple but handsome lines and a very high quality of finish.

This Porsche 356 1600 Super was built in May 1958 and delivered as a demonstration car or "Werkauto" to Herr Harald Wagner. He was the sales director for Porsche Deutschland from March 1954 until 1988.

Wagner was at the table when a name for the new safety convertible of the 911 model had to be chosen; the name 'Targa' is one of his ideas. In addition, Harald Wagners' mother was also Ferry Porsche's sister-in-law, making Harald a cousin of the Porsche family.

In 1960, the car was transferred to Vasek Polak in California. He became the very first independent Porsche dealer in the United States in 1959. He also led a successful racing program in the 1960s and 1970s. A true icon in the history of the Porsche brand. A 2nd special owner who made an important contribution to the history of the Porsche 356 we are offering.

The last owner also knew this when he purchased this car in 2012 as a restoration project. He himself was a retired coachbuilder and carried out the restoration completely by himself according to the rules of the art.

Under the hood we find in this car an air-cooled '1600 Super' boxer engine that, despite its modest size, delivers impressive performance for its time. The 75hp combined with the chassis translates into a dynamic experience on the road that can be compared to few.

The picture is complete; this beautiful appearance comes in fresh 'Aquamarine Blue' with a light beige interior. Isn't this a perfect match!
