A real type 1135

In the sixties, "Le sorcier" Amedée Gordini transformed the mid-size Renault R8, just as Carlo Abarth did with some popular Fiat models, into a succesful rally-competition car.

Quite a revelation for youngsters such as I was in those years, to discover in the car magazines I could buy with my pocket money that an ordinary family car which I encountered quite often on the street could become a spectacular winner in the Monte Carlo rally.

This original type 1135 is the ultimate evolution of what initially started with the Dauphine Gordini and evolved through the R8 1100 Gordini in the twin Weber fed 1300 Gordini producing 103 HP and capable of 175 Km/h.

According to the Club des Anciennes Renault certificate, this Renault R8 Gordini left the factory in June 1967 as a genuine type 1135 in the actual French blue (418) livery.

Fitted from original with the potent 1300 cc engine, this Renault R8 absolutely needs the original 4 disc brakes and the 5-speed gearbox to control efficiently the more than 100 HP.

In excellent all round condition and fitted with period bucket seats, period light alloy wheels and rally equipment, this Renault R8 Gordini will offer you quite some historic rally fun for a moderate investment of only 55.000 Euro.

Shall we make a plan to get you into the Monte Carlo Historique this coming winter?
