What a pleasure to welcome this one-off 1952 Siata Daina into my classic car stable! The sleek full aluminium body designed in typical 50-ies sportscar style by Vignale turns this Siata Daina into a very elegant Italian berlinetta. In the small series of Siata Daina's produced, chassis SL0201S is the only one styled by Michelotti when he worked for Italian coachbuilder Vignale . This very unusual Siata is well-known amongst Italian sportscar enthusiasts, because this sporty Siata competed regularly in historic classic car events in Europe amongst which 6 times at the famous Tour Auto in France. This fact on its own indicates sufficiently that this Siata is in excellent mechanical and structural condition. In our specialized classic car workshop we have acquired over the years some 'savoir faire' on Siata Daina's. At the arrival of SL0201S in our classic car garage she was thoroughly inspected by our mechanics and they were impressed by her super sound and very neat presentation. Test driving her on the road revealed to be an exhilarating experience. Excellent punch from the 1500cc. 4 cylinder Fiat engine, with modified cylinderhead by Siata and fed through a beautiful Abarth manifold with 2 Solex carburettors. Smooth shifting 5 speed (!) gearbox. All the other fabulous sensations driving her I can summarize as: "Overwhelming Italian Berlinetta Panache". Great fun! Well, for this years' Mille Miglia it is now too late to register this Siata (which is eligible for this event), but it would be wonderful to compete in one of the next editions!
