A Touring Sports Car of Brilliant Performance

In 1955 the new Mercedes 190SL was presented as an attractive – and affordable – alternative for the legendary Mercedes 300SL. Unlike its big brother, the 190 was not equipped with a 6-cylinder inline engine but with a 1.9-litre powerful 4-cylinder engine.

Because of this it was able to produce 105hp, which - in combination with its independent suspension - ensured excellent performance.

Super-Leicht or Sport-Leicht

When Mercedes introduced the ‘SL’ in the 1950s it was not clear where this abbreviation came from. Both ‘Sport Leicht’ and ‘Super Leicht’ were mentioned but as far as we are concerned there is no need to make a choice. The ‘SL’ is easy to drive and the performance is worthy of the car as well. Why choose when both apply?

We are therefore pleased to offer you this Mercedes 190SL from 1958. Like many of its kind, the car was produced for the American market, where the SL was very popular. The Roadster was finished in Silver Grey Metallic combined with a blue leather interior. A black mohair convertible roof - and original hardtop – complete its timeless elegance.

About 15 years ago the car was imported from the American state of California to Belgium, after which a 5-year restoration period was started. The focus of the restoring process was on originality, with respect for the former colour combination.

Consequently, this iconic classic car is fully ready for its second life. Interested?
